Hatchet 3 (2013) film review
Wiki Article
Hatchet 3 was the film that was a horror in the Hatchet trilogy. It is a story about Victor Crowley, his murderous rampage through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder plays Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn portrays Deputy Winslow, Rileah vanderbilt portrays Misty.
The film's greatest strength is its use of practical special effects. Hatchet 3 is a modern horror film that heavily relies on CG effects. Hatchet 3 focuses mainly on realistic makeup effects as well as sets. This results in some truly horrifying scenes.
Kane Hodder is a standout in the ensemble and is a formidable villain. It's like a slasher film from the 1980s and the dialogue is a bit too tongue-in-cheek and campy. There are also certain (blog post) moments of genuine comedy throughout, which provide a comical contrast against all of the gut-wrenching action on screen.
Due to the budget being $1 million, most locations were reused from previous films. The boat house used twice in the movie was a prime instance. A lot of the film appears to be a re-use from other films within the series. Hatchet or Hatchet2 may feel the film is familiar.
Overall, Hatchet 3 was very enjoyable. I found it to be very like other films in the series. However, Hatchet 3 provided lots of thrilling thrills and hilarious performances by its cast.
